"Cleaning
escalators is a tiresome business, tedious work that
can only be effectively done by hand."
Who said that? Queen Victoria, perhaps? Genghis Khan?
Julius Caesar, maybe?
Whoever it was, it's a pity they couldn't have looked
at the 21st Century way of cleaning escalators!
True,
manual cleaning is very thorough and gets right down
into the grooves of the treads - but look at how long
it takes! For an average escalator, 6 man-hours to
do a good job? And the escalator needs to be closed
off all the while he is doing it.
With
the Duplex escalator cleaners, the 6 man-hours are
reduced to about 30 minutes. Deep cleaning, using
water and detergent, gets right down into the grooves
and brings back the original sheen that you had quite
forgotten was there. And the Duplex also sucks up
all the water again.
Are
you worried about using water on an escalator? Don't
be! Just think of big cities around the world on a
rainy day. How many thousands of litres of water are
carried into the London Underground, the Paris Metro,
the New York Subway on peoples' raincoats, their umbrellas,
their shoes and briefcases, and then deposited on
to the escalators? These modern contraptions are designed
for these conditions.
And
this is why the Duplex machines (they come in 35 cm.
and 55 cm. width) are the modern answer to a modern
problem and why they outsell dry machines, which grind
and scour and thump and create a lot of dust.
And
don't forget - travelators can be cleaned just as
easily.
