Sand
the romantic imagery
of the Arabian Peninsula has as its cornerstone the
stark beauty of the desert. Who has not stood in wonder
at the panorama of the rolling dunes beneath a star-bedecked
sky? But sand on the bustling roads and highways of
the Gulf can be dangerous. Drifting sand can stop a
speeding car dead, with terrible consequences for the
occupants; and sand drifts can accumulate quickly -
the Highway Authorities need to be vigilant and to have
the correct tools to deal with this phenomenon.

The Broddway Senior is the sweeper for this job.The Senior is
a sweeper like no other. Designed and built in Sweden for more
than 30 years by Broddway (a member of the Schmidt Group), the
Senior is now produced in Poland and hundreds of them have been
sold in the Gulf and Saudi Arabia.
|
The Senior does not have its own hopper - when you realise
that this sweeper will shift more than one tonne of sand
per minute, you will readily appreciate that an integral
hopper would be an impossibility. Therefore it needs a
tipper truck in which to deposit the sand and, thanks
to its ingenious and cost effective design, the truck
that receives the load also tows the Senior.
Quickly coupled and uncoupled, the Senior can keep three
or more trucks busy on a rotating basis in heavy sweeping
conditions; with its enormous appetite, it will eat into
heavy deposits of sand, leaving behind
.. nothing
at all.

Moreover, with 1,100 litres of water on board, the operator
can control the amount of water he puts down, thereby ensuring
the sand is swept onto the conveyor and not allowed to swirl
up into the air.
Because it is a two-wheeled machine, the Senior has no problem
following kerb contours and skirting obstacles like parked
cars, and reversing manoeuvres are made easy.
Built to exacting, unmatchable Swedish standards, the Senior
is incredibly tough, providing its owner with years of trouble-free
and economic service long after other sweepers have given
up the ghost and lie rusting in the scrap yard.
The camel may navigate the desert, but only the Broddway Senior
can sweep it!
